The Karnataka government will upgrade its police communication and surveillance system by using latest technology to make law and order situationbetter in the state, Home Minister G Parameshwara said here today.
Parameshwara along with principal secretary (Home) Subash Chandra and other senior officials from the Home department attended a three-day exhibition on the 'Use of Technology for Surveillance' organised byBritain's department for Home Affairs.
"We are quite impressed with theExhibition. We will use the latest communication technology available herefor maintenance of law and order betterin the state," Parameshwara said after a visit to the Metropolitan Police Communication Centre yesterday.
Parameshwaravisited thestatue of Basaveshwara on the bank of river Thames and paid tributes to the 12th century Indian philosopher and social reformer.
"I am extremely delighted to see the statue of an Indian philosopher inthe backdrop of British Parliament overlooking the river Thames in the historic city of London and a Museum of Dr B R Ambedkar in the heart of London. This makes every Indian proud," Parameshwara said.
Basaveshwara statue in London is the first conceptual statue to be approved by the British government in the vicinity of the British Parliament.
It was done as a mark of respect to theIndian Philosopher and social reformer for promoting democratic ideals, social justice and gender equality during the 12th century.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had unveiled the statue and the Ambedkar House in November 2015.
Former Mayor of London borough of Lambeth Neeraj Patil, who was instrumental in erecting the Basaveshwara statue, welcomed the minister at the statue on behalf of the British Indian community.
After visiting the Ambedkar House in the London borough of Camden, Parameshwara said both Basaveshwara and Ambedkar fought for eradication of caste discrimination and maintenanceof social justice in the Indian society.
