Two labourers digging a pit at a construction site on Rajgarh road near Solan were buried alive after a huge mound of earth fell on them this evening, police said.

Dassi Lal(31), a resident of Uttarakhand, and Puran Bhadur (35), a Nepalese national, were buried alive while Anil Sharma (31) escaped unhurt, they said.



A rescue operation was launched which lasted for about three hours. The bodies were recovered after removing debris, police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Solan Rakesh Kanwar, SP Anjum Ara and other district officials reached the spot to supervise the rescue operation.

The bodies have been sent for postmortem, police said.
