Tipu Sultan's armouries hog limelight
Srirangapatna (Mandya district), Mar 11, 2016, DHNS
With the Tipu Sultan’s 18th century armoury near the Srirangapatna Railway Station getting attention due to the doubling of the Bengaluru-Mysuru railway track, the other armouries of the same period, scattered around the town, in a state of neglect, are receiving attention.
The Archeological Survey of India (ASI) has taken up the renovation of the armoury on the Kalyana Mantapa Road, near the Jumma Masjid. With this, the armouries are expected to be added to the list of tourist attractions, which would give a boost to the already thriving tourism industry of the town.
