There are 929 registered brick kilns in Rajasthan of which Sri Ganganagar district has the highest number, Labour and Employment Minister Jaswant Singh Yadav said today.
He was replying to a question during the question hour in the Assembly today.
The highest number of brick kilns registered, 321, were in Sri Ganganagar district followed by Hanumangarh and Jaipur with 290 and 146 respectively, the Minister said.
He said that the kilns are registered under Brick Kiln Factory Act, 1948, and there are various provisions for the labourers working at these kilns.
In supplementary question, BJP legislator from Gangapur City Man Singh raised the issues of increasing pollution from brick kilns in Kanota near Jaipur.
Some members raised the issue of unregistered brick kilns.
The minister said that there are specific rules under the Act based on which brick kilns are registered.
He said though there are no provisions enabling the Labour Ministry to act in the matters related to pollution but added that he will try to take up the issue with the authorities concerned.
