Cardamom futures fall 0.77 pc on sluggish demand

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Cardamom futures fell 0.77 per cent to Rs 1,421.10 per kg today as participants trimmed their holdings amid sluggish spot demand.

Besides, adequate stocks position following increased arrivals from producing regions also fuelled the downtrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May declined by Rs 11, or 0.77 per cent, to Rs 1,421.10 per kg in a business turnover of just two lots.

The spice for delivery in April was trading down by Rs 9.80 or 0.68 per cent to Rs 1,424.50 per kg with a trading volume of 156 lots.

Analysts said, offloading of positions by participants owing to a weak trend at spot market on subdued demand, mainly put pressure on cardamom prices at futures trade.
