Delhi gets new adventure park, animal figures main attraction

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

An adventure park, equipped with an open gym, gazebos and fibre-made animal figures, was today thrown open to the public in south Delhi's Safdarjung Enclave area.

Spread over 500 sqm, the park has been built at a cost of Rs 18 lakh and developed by South Municipal Corporation (SDMC), which has gone on an inauguration spree, eyeing the civic polls.

"Nine more adventure parks will be developed in the various parks of the SDMC," Standing Committee Chairman of the SDMC Shailender Singh Monti said.

He said the park has been tastefully decorated keeping in view the interest of the children.

The facilities include makeshift wooden bridge, slides, swings, rope scrambles and play equipment, fiber-made figures of zebra, giraffe, tiger, deer, bunny rabbit, lion and baby tiger and a number of birds, he said.

Figures of popular characters like Superman, Chhota Bheem, Batman and Spider-man have also been installed.

The three BJP-ruled civic bodies, including the SDMCS, have gone on an inauguration spree, from opening new parking lots to easing trade licence besides naming and renaming streets, to woo voters ahead of the municipal polls, due in April.

A few days ago, the SDMC had inaugurated two multi-level parking lots in Kalkaji and Rajaouri Garden.
