With former Tamil Nadu chief minister O. Panneerselvam sitting on a hunger strike demanding a probe into late chief minister J. Jayalalithaa's death, the Congress Party on Thursday asserted that no one is actually concerned about the matter, adding that it is just a power struggle between the two fractions of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK).
"It is their internal conflict; we are not concerned about that. The medical bulletin said that the best available treatment was given to Jayalalithaa. All this trouble after his death is probably because of the power struggle between the two fractions of the AIDMK," Congress leader P.C. Chacko told ANI.
Earlier on Wednesday, Panneerselvam sat on a hunger strike at demanding a probe into J. Jayalalithaa's death.
Earlier on March 6, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami-led Tamil Nadu Government released a 19-page health report of the late AIADMK supremo.
The report claimed that the AIIMS doctors examined Jayalalithaa five times.
Tamil Nadu Health Secretary J. Radhakrishnan called the report self-explanatory, adding that no information has been held back.
The state government categorically rejected Panneerselvam's claims, saying the latter is spreading false information among the people regarding Jayalalithaa's health condition.
On February 28, twelve AIADMK MPs met President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi and handed over a petition seeking a probe into the medical treatment provided to Jayalalithaa before her demise on December 5 last year.
They also sought a probe into the incidents that occurred at Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden residence on September 22 before she was admitted to the hospital.
