President Bidya Devi Bhandari today inaugurated a spiritual learning centre in and said it would play a vital role in promoting religious harmony and tourism in the country.

Shashwatdham, situated in Dumkauli of Nawalparasi in south was inaugurated in the presence of Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and former King Gyanendra.



Inaugurating the centre, Bhandari said, the pilgrimage site would play an important role in promoting compassion and goodwill among people.

"Unity in cultural and religious diversities is Nepal's unique identity," she said.

A large number of people including religious leaders from Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Cambodia, political party leaders, saints, business entrepreneurs, journalists were present on the occasion.

Chaudhary Foundation, a major business group has completed the construction of Shaswatdham in 15 years.

The centre houses a Shiva temple, a library, religious museum, Yoga hall and Gurukul for students of Sanskrit language.
