The Bihar state legislature today mourned the demise of former Lok Sabha Speaker Rabi Ray and diplomat turned politician Syed Shahbuddin.
In both houses of the state legislature, the members observed a minute's silence in the memory of the two departed leaders.
In the Assembly, Speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary read out obituary references of Ray, a renowned socialist leader and Lok Sabha Speaker between 1989 and 1991, and Shahabuddin, a diplomat turned politician.
Deputy Chairperson Haroon Rashid did the same in the Legislative Council.
While 91-year-old Ray passed away in Odisha yesterday, Shahabuddin died at a hospital in Noida on March 4 last.
