Guargum futures climb as speculators widen positions

Guargum prices spurted by Rs 219 to Rs 8,324 per quintal in future trading today as traders expanded their exposure, taking positive cues from global as well as domestic markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, guargum for delivery in April month contracts rallied by Rs 219 or 2.70 per cent to Rs 8,324 per quintal, in an open interest of 46,855 lots.



On similar lines, guargum for delivery this month contract flared up by Rs 201 or 2.52 per cent to Rs 8,164 per quintal, having an open interest of 10,800 lots.

Marketmen said t a firm trend at the domestic spot markets on strong demand agaisnt thin arrivals from growing regions and positive cues from global market, mainly pushed up prices here in futures trading.
