Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's son N. Lokesh on Monday filed his nomination papers for the legislative council elections.

Assembly members will elect seven members to the council in the biennial elections on March 17.

Besides ruling Telugu Desam Party's General Secretary Lokesh, Karnam Balram, P. Sunitha, D. Manikya Varaprasad and B. Arjunudu filed their nominations.

Naidu, the TDP national President, finalised the names of candidates on Sunday night.

After his to the Upper House, Lokesh is likely to be inducted into the cabinet.

Talking to reporters following his nomination, Lokesh said he was happy to be the TDP candidate for MLC elections within five years of working as a 'disciplined party worker'.

The businessman-politician thanked and TDP's unit President Kala Venkat Rao for his nomination.

Meanwhile, Lokesh's father-in-law and popular actor N. Balakrishna said Lokesh was a suitable candidate for council elections.

He said he hoped the young leader will focus on people's issues in his capacity as a member of the legislative council.

Assembly member Balakrishna is also a maternal uncle of Lokesh.
