Not afraid of probe into my income: Satyendar Jain

Delhi government's mini ster for PWD, health, po wer and home, Satyendar Jain, has written to TOI, in response to the news report, “Taxmen attach Rs 33cr assets `linked' to Jain“, which appeared in the edition dated March 4, 2017.TOI had reached out to the minister on March 3 but failed to elicit a response. He writes: In the story published on the front page of TOI, my name has been wrongly dragged in to create a false impression about me.The story , attributed to an anonymous tax official, has tried to falsely link me with assets owned by some companies.

I would like to set the record straight about my investments and savings which I have made in the past, before I decided to join public life, in a conscious decision taken with the consent of my family .

I am a professional architect with a practice of nearly 25 years, during the course of which I have designed numerous buildings in the country . During my practice, I made investments of around Rs 51 lakh between 2007 and 2012.

On July 21, 2013, I was given a ticket by Aam Aadmi Party to contest the Delhi assembly elections from Shakur Basti constituency . Within 10 days (on July 31, 2013), I resigned from the boards of companies in which I was a director. I took this decision since I was entering politics and I did not want any conflict of interest.

Since July 31, 2013, I have not been associated with any of the companies named in the report and I fail to understand how my name has been dragged in with regard to investment value of the land etc.

Neither the founder, nor any existing director of any of the companies has been named. I fail to understand how I am linked to attachment of any existing land of any company . I have earned all my income with my hard work and I have been a tax payer for decades. I am not afraid of any probe about my income details, nor am I scared of any political vendetta.
