When legends came together

Stalwarts Kapil Dev with GR Viswanath on Saturday.
It was a picture tinged with nostalgia as two of India’s legendary cricketers of the same era met at the Chinnaswamy.

Kapil Dev, one of India’s greatest all-rounders, and GR Viswanath, one of the finest batsmen the country has produced, met each other at the press box and were involved in a long chat. The duo had a light-hearted conversation and their meeting aroused curiosity and excitement among the fans.

Large turnout on day one
Irrespective of the format, the Bengaluru crowd has never disappointed in their response to a cricket game and Saturday was no different.

The game began with many half-filled stands and within one hour of the first session, the Chinnaswamy was full in most parts.

The Karnataka State Cricket Association officials said approximately 20,000 people attended the day’s play. With India aiming to stage a fight back, more crowd is expected on Day 2, considering it is a Sunday.

IPL fever sets in at Chinnaswamy

There is still a month to go for the start of the Indian Premier League but the T20 fever seems to have already set in.

With India’s KL Rahul and Virat Kohli being the star players for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Bengaluru fans had more than one reason to showcase their support.
Chanting “RCB, RCB”, the crowd was behind their favourite players. Kohli expectedly received the strongest support.

The Indian skipper, who has enthralled the Bengaluru crowd with many memorable knocks in the IPL, got a vociferous welcome. Though he failed to strike a big knock, local lad Rahul didn’t disappoint the fans.
