Support from regional blenders lifted the prices of good liquoring teas at Kochi auction, despite low arrivals from all categories.

The market for good liquoring blacker teas was firm to dearer by ₹2 to ₹3 and sometimes more. In sale no 9, the quantity on offer in dust grades was 7,48,500 kg, which was low compared to last week, auctioneers Forbes, Ewart & Figgis said.

Orthodox market was also firm to dearer and the quantity on offer was only 4,000 kg. Exporters continued to be the mainstay of the market.

In Cochin CTC dust quotation, good varieties fetched ₹120-160, mediums quoted ₹113-147 and plain grades stood at ₹108-122.

In the leaf category, the market for select best Nilgiri and whole leaf in orthodox grades appreciated by a longer margin of ₹10 to ₹20 and sometimes more. The quantity on offer was 149,500 kg.

Demand was good for CTC leaf and the quantity on offer was 62,000 kg. The market for fannings and brokens was firm to dearer.

In dust, Kallyar SFD quoted the best prices of ₹180 followed by Waterfall SFD at ₹161. Chamraj FOP-S (Green Tea) came to the top in leaf varieties quoting ₹459 followed by Chamraj FOP at ₹376.
