Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Friday raided the premises of a superintending engineer of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department in Mysuru and unearthed Rs 15 crore worth of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Ranganath Naik is an employee of the Public Works Department (PWD) and is on deputation to the RDPR department.
ACB sleuths searched four premises belonging to Naik, including his house in Mysuru. The raids have yielded immovable assets estimated to be worth Rs 13.53 crore, 2.3 kg gold, eight kg silver, two cars, a high-end bike and Rs 60,000, besides fat bank accounts.
The official owns a six-storey residential apartment near Manyata Tech Park in Nagawara, Bengaluru, worth Rs 11 crore. He also owns a flat at Mantri Green apartment in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, worth Rs 68 lakh, a 50X80 site at Visvesvaraya Layout worth Rs 80 lakh, a farmhouse and agricultural lands worth Rs 80 lakh in Chikkamagaluru district, and a house in Mysuru worth Rs 25 lakh.
An official said Rs 33 lakh had been found in one of Naik’s savings accounts at Indian Overseas Bank in Mysuru. Rs 2 lakh has been found in another savings account at Bank of Baroda in J P Nagar, Bengaluru.”
