Odisha is unlikely to meet the target in collecting revenue from the mining sector in the 2016-17 Financial Year.
While the state government has set a target to collect Rs 7,000 crore in 2016-17, it has collected Rs 3,715.08 by end of February, steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallick told the state assembly on Friday.
With just one month left for the Financial Year to end, the state government is unlikely to meet the target.
The state government had collected mineral revenue of Rs 5,047 crore in the last fiscal as against a target of Rs 6,626 crore, said an official in the mine department.
The government has failed to meet its revenue collection target from mining sector since 2012-13, he added.
