Fake encounter cases of Manipur will be probed: Rajnath Singh

GUWAHATI: Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh on Thursday raked up the issue of fake encounter in poll bound Manipur and promised to probe the same by CBI or other agencies.

Singh who was addressing an election rally in Wangkhem said, "There are several cases of fake encounter during the Congress rule. We will institute probe into those. CBI or other agency will probe the same."

Rights organisations claim altogether 1528 people including 31 women and 98 children were killed in fake encounters by security forces in Manipur between 1979 and 2012.

CBI has reopened a case of 'fake encounter' killing involving reformed militant Chungkham Sanjit and Rabina Devi, a pregnant woman.

Singh said congress is trying to create confusion. "We want bring peace in Northeast India and one such step was framework agreement with NSCN-IM. Let me assure you interest of no tribe or community will not be harmed by the agreement."

He added, "Territorial integrity of Manipur will in no way influenced."
