Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) S P Vaid today said the force has a great responsibility to win the trust of people by delivering justice.
He described the executive police and the crime wing as "important pillars" of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Besides other areas of policing, crime detection and control are major responsibilities of the executive police and the crime wing.
He said the two agencies were doing commendable job in the investigation field for which they time and again have been lauded by various quarters.
The DGP said the agencies have to adopt new technology to improve their efficiencies and to strengthen investigation methods.
He said that with criminals using modern technology, it becomes imperative for the agencies to adopt latest techniques to detect and a put a check on crimes and criminals.
The DGP said besides strengthening the investigation network, the role of the civil society can't be undermined in curbing the crimes.
He said the department should seek public cooperation to get desired results.
The DGP laid stress on the need for creating awareness among masses and said a mechanism needs to be created to make public aware against the causes and consequences of various kinds of crimes.
