Anti-socials hurl bomb, set JCB machine on fire

Press Trust of India  |  Kendrapara (Odisha)

Anti-socials today hurled crude bombs and set on fire a JCB machine near Luna river embankment on Bichana-Haridaspur roadside construction site in Kendrapara district.

The motor-cycle-borne anti-socials hurled bombs at the machine. The work was not in progress when the incident took place. Under the impact of explosives, the JCB machine caught in fire. Later fire brigade personnel doused the fire.

The country bombs were high intensity explosive substances, police said.

Police have intensified vigil at the entry and exit routes to the village and adjoining areas to nab the culprits, said Inspector Patkura police station, Debendra Mallick.

Extortion is believed to be the motive behind the incident. Daring crime of this nature at the construction site which was in the close vicinity of the populous village might have been perpetrated by organized crime syndicate active in this part, added police.

On February 21, anti-socials had burnt down a JCB machine at Antei village in Patkura area.
