Assam government to constitute expert Committee on sick tea gardens under Assam Tea Corporation

GUWAHATI: Government of Assam will constitute an Expert Committee to address various issues relating to the sick tea gardens under Assam Tea Corporation.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal held discussion with Assam Tea Tribes Students Association were Sonowal announced that expert panel will study the problems of ailing ATC tea gardens.

Chief Minister announced that this committee will work to formulate modalities and mechanism for taking up plans and activities for bringing a permanent solution to the sick tea gardens under ATC. Chief Minister further stressed on the need to prepare a road map for addressing the same.

Chief Minister also informed the ATTSA representatives that concerted efforts are being made in the tea garden areas to improve the health care facilities.

Keeping this in view, mobile medical units with modern medical facilities are operationalized which will render health care services for four to five days in a month. Altogether eighty such units are pressed into service in the entire state, Sonowal said.

Chief Minister further added that the Government will arrange permanent health care institutions with modern facilities in every tea garden in a phase manner.
