Mumbai airport name to be changed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport

NEW DELHI: Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai will soon be changed to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, as the aviation ministry is set to move a Cabinet proposal for the change of name.

"The name of the airport as well as the terminal building will be changed. The Maharashtra Assembly has approved both the changes and sent it to us. We will now move a Cabinet note on the same," said a senior aviation ministry official, who did not want to be identified.

According to rules, a name change requires the approval of the Union Cabinet.

The aviation ministry has received the proposal on change of name this week.
