BJPLP leader K V Singh Deo today alleged that the National Flag has been insulted by hoisting it on the left side of a vehicle used by a leader in the rank of a minister.
Raising the issue during the zero hour, Singhdeo said the tricolour was hoisted on the wrong side of the vehicle bearing registration number OD 02AG 6699. Hoisting the National Flag on the left side of the vehcile was a "clear violation" of the Flag Code of India.
Later it was found that the vehicle provided by the Parliamentary Affairs Department was being used by Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra of Congress, who enjoyed the status of a cabinet minister.
"As per the Flag Code the tricolour should be hoisted either at the centre or on the right-hand side of the vehicle. Therefore, I tried to drag the attention of the speaker to direct the state government to look into the matter," Singhdeo said.
Mishra, could not get an opportunity to clarify his stand in the house as it was adjourned due to the din.
"I will examine the matter," he said outside adding he would make his reply in the house after going through the law book.
