Amethi police today nabbed two persons allegedly involved in looting Rs 11,54,000 from a private firm employee here early last month after gunning him down and injuring his colleague in broad daylight outside a bank.
Amethi Superintendent of Police Anees Ahmad Ansari identified the arrested duo as Dal Singar Singh and Sandip Kumar Singh of Katsari village under Kadipur police station of Sultanpur district.
SP Ansari said the two were arrested on charges of murder, attempt to murder and robbery besides other related offences.
Singhs' third accomplice Prem Kumar Passi of Barabanki is yet to be arrested, said SP Ansari adding the police team, which arrested Singhs also recovered Rs 4,03,000 of the looted money, besides two pistols, some live cartridges and mobile sets from the miscreants.
The incident had occurred on February 6 when Ekantik Sharma, working as an accountant in a local firm arrived outside the Kathaura branch of Bank of Baroda along with his colleague to deposit some money.
Minutes before stepping into the bank, the two were attacked by a gun-wielding miscreants, who decamped with their bag containing the money after firing over them. The gun fire resulted in killing of Ekantik, while Sharma was injured and rushed to the hospital.
