Mentha oil futures traded lower by 0.29 per cent to Rs 1,040.70 per kg in futures market today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels, triggered by tepid demand in the spot market against ample stocks position.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, mentha oil for delivery in March fell by Rs 3, or 0.29 per cent to Rs 1,040.70 per kg in business turnover of 105 lots.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in far-month April contracts shed 40 paise, or 0.04 per cent to Rs 1,042.40 per kg in 3 lots.
Analysts said besides profit-booking by speculators after recent gains, fall in demand from consuming industries in the spot market against adequate stocks position on increased supplies from Chandousi in Uttar Pradesh, mainly influenced mentha oil prices at futures trade.
