The Delhi Police have arrested a man for killing a school watchman within three hours of the alleged crime, an official said on Wednesday.
"Rohit, 21, was arrested at midnight on February 26 after he killed Pawan, who was working as a watchman at Nav Bharti Senior Secondary School in Sarai Rohilla," North Delhi's Deputy Commissioner of Police Jatin Narwal said.
The police alleged that Rohit crushed Pawan's head with a heavy stone after a scuffle broke out between the two when the watchman tried to molest Rohit's girlfriend.
Rohit and Pawan were known to each other, the police said.
Rohit said that on Sunday's night he requested Pawan to allow him to enter school premises with his girl-friend. Pawan agreed, the police said.
The police said that Rohit, in his disclosure statement, said that he went inside the school campus with his girlfriend and Pawan was sitting at the gate. Suddenly, Pawan went to Rohit who was sitting with his girlfriend and started creating nuisance.
Rohit works as a painter and remover of dents from vehicles.
