A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team arrived here today to conduct joint interrogation of the two suspected ISIS operatives arrested by Gujarat Anti Terrorism Squad, officials said.
Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) brought the arrested duo - Waseem Ramodiya and his younger brother Naeem - to Ahmedabad this evening.
"A team of NIA officials, who have arrived here today, will join ATS for the interrogation of two ISIS suspects," Assistant Commissioner of Police, ATS, B H Chavda said.
The suspected ISIS operatives were arrested by the Gujarat ATS on Sunday morning. Waseem was arrested from Rajkot, while his brother was nabbed from Bhavnagar.
A court in Rajkot yesterday remanded them into the custody of ATS for twelve days.
As per the FIR filed against them, the duo were kept under surveillance of security agencies for over a year for their suspected activities and communications with an alleged ISIS handler.
The FIR said the two brothers were about to carry out lone-wolf attacks in Gujarat, after which, they had planned to escape to Syria.
