Three held for setting fire to CPI-M office

Three persons have been arrested in connection with the vandalisation and torching of office near here on the eve of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's visit to the city to address a communal harmony rally on February 25.

The arrested persons have been identified as Deekshit (28), D K Rakshit (23) and Benny R (22), all residents of Thokkottu and nearby areas.



Police said search for more culprits involved in the incident which occurred at Thokkottu near Ullal. They said Deekshit and Rakshit were facing several cases. The accused had the intention of destroying banners and buntings kept at the office for the campaign of the "Communal Harmony Rally" of Chief Minister, police said.

Citing the continuing attacks on party and workers in Kerala,and Sangh Parivar outfits had protested the visit of Vijayan saying it would lead to unrest in Dakshina Kannada district.
