Navy MiG-29K diverted to Mangaluru after technical glitch

IANS  |  Mangalore

A carrier-borne MiG 29K multi-role fighter aircraft of the Indian Navy was on Tuesday diverted to Karnataka's Mangaluru after developing a technical snag, and had a tire burst while landing, Navy officials said.

The aircraft, a naval version of MiG-29 fighter, had taken off from an aircraft carrier at sea for a routine sortie when it was diverted after following a hydraulic emergency, an Indian Navy official said.

During the landing, the aircraft experienced a tire burst and blocked the runway. However, officials said a recovery team had attended it on the site and cleared it off the runway expeditiously, a Navy spokesperson said.
