Cardamom prices were trading up by 0.55 per cent to Rs 1,456 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions amid pick up in demand in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose Rs 8, or 0.55 per cent, to Rs 1,456 per kg in business turnover of 52 lots.
Similarly, spice for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 7.30, or 0.50 per cent to Rs 1,477 per kg in 39 lots.
Analysts said, building up of positions by participants, driven by pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
