Sensex recoups losses led by RIL gains; Nifty50 above 8,900 level

NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Sensex recouped losses and turned positive in morning trade on Monday, led by gains in RIL, Infosys, L&T, ONGC, and ICICI Bank.

The Nifty50 was trading well above its crucial level of 8,900 supported by gains in realty, oil & gas, consumer durable, capital goods, and IT stocks.

At 09:30 am: The 30-share index was trading 23 points lower or 0.08 per cent at 28,916. It touched a high of 28,927.33 and a low of 28,812.88 in morning trade.

The Nifty50 was trading at 8,939 down 2 points or 0.01 per cent. It touched a high of 8,944.55 and a low of 8,913.65 in the first 30 minutes of trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was trading 0.16 per cent higher and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.40 per cent up.

Reliance Industries (up 4 per cent), ONGC (up 1.07 per cent), Wipro (up 0.9 per cent), GAIL India (up 0.79 per cent), and Coal India (up 0.7 per cent) were the major Sensex gainers.

Axis Bank (down 1.3 per cent), Power Grid (down 1.2 per cent), ITC (down 1.1 per cent) and M&M (down 1.01 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.
