The Government will issue applications for the fourth tranche of the Sovereign Gold Bond scheme from February 27 to March 3. The bonds will be issued on March 17. The bonds will be sold through banks, Stock Holding Corporation of India, designated post offices, and the National Stock Exchange and Bombay Stock Exchange. The first three tranches of the scheme saw the sale of 5,114.95 kg worth of bonds amounting to ₹1,373 crore.
Polling for fifth phase of UP Assembly elections will take place on February 27. The districts going to polls in this phase are Balrampur, Gonda, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Bahraich, Shravasti, Siddharth Nagar, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Amethi, and Sultanpur. In all, 608 candidates are in the fray in this phase with a maximum of 24 candidates in Amethi and a minimum of six each in Kapilvastu and Etwa seats of Siddharth Nagar district.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on February 27 to get exemption for students from appearing for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical and dental courses. Bills to exempt undergraduate and postgraduate medical aspirants from the State from the national examination are yet to get Presidential assent. Expressing his intention to implement hydrocarbon extraction project in the State, he said he would discuss the subject with the PM and “initiate action in such a way that it would not affect farmers”.
The Madras High Court will be hearing on Monday the final arguments in a two-decade-old case filed by the CBI against AIADMK interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala’s husband M. Natarajan, for duty evasion while importing a luxury car from the United Kingdom. The issue pertains to the import of a Lexus car in 1994, declaring it as a used vehicle. The CBI and Enforcement Directorate had registered separate cases against Natarajan and three others after it was found that the documents presented by them were fabricated, allegedly causing a duty loss of more than Rs. one crore to the exchequer.
