Prakash Javadekar rejects Congress' demand to make public framework agreement between NSCN-IM and Centre

IMPHAL: With Congress demanding to make public framework agreement between NSCN-IM and Centre, BJP’s Manipur in-charge and Union HRD minister Prakash Javadekar rejected it and said that Prime minister, Narendra Modi’s assurance that territorial integrity of Manipur will not be comprised is enough.

He said, “We have to believe in the Prime minister’s assurance like we have believed on the surgical strike done by Army on Pakistan. Once Modi has clarified there is no reason for chief minister, O Ibobi Singh to demand the same. It makes no sense."

Congress wants the NDA government to make public the deal entered by NSCN-IM and Centre in 2015. Singh said, “If there is nothing secretive than why they are not placing the document in public domain.”

Javadekar said that there are certain processes of national importance which cannot be made public. “Things like the details of surgical strike cannot be made public. Before signing of the agreement the Prime Minister had discussed with AICC president Sonia Gandhi.”

Ibobi has challenged the Prime minister to name the congress leader with whom he claimed that he had discussed the agreement before entering the same.

Javadekar said congress is now a frustrated party, worried with the rise of BJP in the state. “They (congress) are only talking about framework agreement as if they have no other issue to discuss.Development has suffered in last 15 years of congress rule.”
