Assam to lend logistical support for conduct of Manipur assembly polls

GUWAHATI: Assam’s transport department will extend logistics support to Manipur assembly polls scheduled to be held on March 4 and March 8.

According to a statement from Assam government, this initiative has been taken at the request of the Transport Department, Government of Manipur.

“For this purpose, the department has already initiated the requisition process to help the neighbouring state for smooth conduct of assembly elections. “In this regard, Government of Manipur has fixed the hiring charge of Heavy Bus (above 30 seats) at Rs. 3655 per day, Heavy Truck (9 tonner) at Rs. 3514 per day and Light Motor Vehicle at Rs. 1818 per day. Government of Manipur will bear all these expenses including fuel.

The Transport Department of Manipur has appealed to the vehicle owners of Assam to join hands with the Government's initiative by offering their vehicles for smooth conduct of the elections till March 10.
