Three people have been arrested and 530 kg of poppy seized in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.

A Banaras-bound truck which was on its way from Lassipora-Pulwama in South Kashmir was intercepted last night at a joint checkpoint set up by police and (SOG) Jammu at Mansar Morh, a police officer said.



The truck along with the contraband item has been seized by police, he said.

The accused have been identified as the driver Ashiq Hussain Dar, Sajad Ahmed Dar and Umer Mushtaq Dar, he said, adding that they hailed from Shopian district.

A case has been registered in this regard, the officer said.
