Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Discom BSES Yamuna Power Ltd has deployed an advanced Distribution Management System (DMS) to automate the process of electricity management in Mayur Vihar area here.

The DMS, which was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, "intelligently monitors power supply" in real time at the 11 KV last mile and helps in faster restoration of faults by over 50 per cent, a statement issued by BYPL said.

"BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL), has deployed DMS in Mayur Vihar, benefitting around 1 lakh residents spread over an area of around 15 square kms. Under this, all the sixty, 11 KV sub-stations in the area will be controlled remotely.

"The pilot project has cost around Rs 1.8 crore. After Mayur Vihar, DMS will be rolled-out in other areas in phases," BYPL CEO P R Kumar said.

The discom said that the DMS allows system anomalies to be flagged in real time, assisting in early remedial action.

It further said that the system was developed in-house by BSES to supply reliable power to consumers.
