Frenzied Indians take to the app market to adapt to the impending GST regime

MUMBAI: Frenzied individuals and organisations are turning to the flourishing app market to make their way around the maze of GST transitions. The new tax is slated to come into effect from July 1.

As talks of finalisation of the Goods and Services Tax gained pace in late 2015 and 2016, several apps have cropped up to help individuals stay abreast of the frequent updates related to the tax as well as help organisations make the necessary transition in their compliance machinery to comply with the new regime.

Tally, provider of enterprise resource planning software qualified as a GST Suvidha Provider in 2016 and subsequently launched an app for businesses to help them chalk out the changes they need to make.

Another app by CAclubIndia, a platform for finance professionals in India with 1.7 million registered members recently became the number one app on GST on Google Play Store with more than 80,000 downloads in a month.

“The idea is to bridge the gap between the business and finance professionals by enabling them with an on the go Mobile technology as well as to help both professionals and business in adapting with GST and connecting them in relation to learning, compliance and consultancy,” Vivek Jain, founder, CAclubindia.com said.

Yesterday, Central Board of Excise and Customs launched its own app for GST.

Other apps that have been helping citizens in relation to developments in GST are Deloitte India GST Connect, GST Helpline and Karvy GST, GST india and GST Offline.
