Chennai, February 22:
Market regulator SEBI on Wednesday sought public views on the norms governing stock exchanges and other market infrastructure institutions (MIIs), such as depositories and clearing corporations.
Since many representations have been received from various stakeholders, such as MIIs, on issues related to governance, ownership, concerns arising post-listing of stock exchanges and depositories, it is felt that the regulations may require a comprehensive review.
The Bimal Jalan Committee which came out with recommendations for these regulations had said that the working of the MIIs should be reviewed by SEBI after five years. This period ends in June 2017. Views are invited by March 31.
