Vijay Mallya slams Indian media for 'blasting' him
NEW DELHI: 'Wilful' tax evader and fugitive Vijay Mallya, who owes India as much as Rs 9,000 crore, took to Twitter this morning to moan about the Indian media "blasting him" rather than lauding his spendy Formula 1 moves.
He tweeted a series of laudatory comments about himself and his F1 team - that bears the name of another big Indian duper, Sahara. But when he got no love from social media he decided to moan about the Indian media.
Social media did make some valid comments.
Some told him there is an easy way to stop the media from "blasting him"
And some pulled no punches.
Mallya fled to London early last year after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation asked him to cooperate with investigations about his massive defaults on loans to the tune of Rs 9,000 crore. These loans had been borrowed from half a dozen government banks and parts of it allegedly laundered to his shell companies abroad.
According to the ED, its investigation revealed that Mallya laundered more than Rs 3,500 crore of the loans on the pretext of payment of lease rentals, repairs, maintenance and so on.

Very unfortunate that Indian media do not share pride that an Indian entry into Formula 1 is so successful. Only focussed on blasting me.
