Two persons were today arrested and 66 kg of poppy straw was recovered from their possession in separate police actions here, officials said.

Acting on a specific information, police conducted raid in a medical store of Vijay Bhardwaj at Simble Morh area of Jammu and seized 47 kgs of poppy straw, a police officer said.



The contraband was recovered and the accused was arrested, he said.

In another incident, police recovered 19 kg of poppy from a parked truck at Simble Camp area of the city and arrested its driver Pardeep Singh alias Deepu, he said.

Cases have been registered in the matters and further investigations initiated, he said.
