The Telangana police have arrested hundreds of activists and students to scuttle the March for Jobs protest in the city. Joint Action Committee Kodandaram was arrested at his Tarnaka house early in the morning.

The government deployed a huge posse of police at Osmania University and Indira Park.

The city has been cordoned off with the police guarding all the entry points to stop the activists from coming to the protest rally.

The JAC has called for the protest rally demanding that the government immediately fill up vacancies in the public sector.

The police had denied permission for the rally at the Dharna Chowk near Indira Park, citing law and order issues.

The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which rallied behind the JAC during the Telangana movement, decided to keep away from it after it formed the government. The JAC continues to fight for people's issues.
