Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s focus on “ease of doing business” has once again been reiterated as he asked all Secretaries and Chief Secretaries of the government to assess the progress on a weekly basis.
During an interaction through the ICT-based, multi-modal platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation (Pragati),Modi asked officials to assess progress in ease of doing business on the basis of the parameters outlined in the World Bank’s report.
He further reviewed the progress of infrastructure projects — such as railway, road, port, power and natural gas sectors, across several states, including Telangana, Odisha, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Haryana, Bihar, West Bengal, and Meghalaya.
While reviewing the progress towards handling and resolution of grievances related to the telecom sector, he asked officials to improve efficiency, and fix accountability at all levels to ensure issues, such as poor service quality, connectivity and non-functioning of landline connections, are resolved.
