Karnataka Vikas Grameen Bank (KVGB) has made 13 villages under its jurisdiction as 100 per cent digital villages for banking activities, according to S Ravindran, Chairman of KVGB.

Speaking during the visit of Eugene E Karthak, Regional Director of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Bengaluru, to Hulasageri village in Bagalkot district, he said the bank is planning to make 100 villages as 100 per cent digital for banking activities by the end of the current financial year.

(The bank provides technology-enabled banking services, including statements, alerts, remittances and fund transfers on mobile phone; Aadhaar-based payments; e-pass book; and micro ATM services under its digital village initiative.)

KVGB has 2,602 service area villages and more than 65 lakh customers in Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Belagavi, Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Uttara Kannada, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts of Karnataka.

The bank has extended micro ATM services to the villages under its jurisdiction through business correspondents. This enabled the villagers to transact through Aadhaar-enabled payment system and Rupay cards, he said.

Karthak, who interacted with Hulasageri villagers, urged them to make use of digital banking activities for speedy and safe transactions. He advised them not to share their account and ATM card details with others.
