J&K: MLA Abid Hussain blames Naem Akhtar for chaos in PDP
SRINAGAR: After the resignation of two senior ministers, crisis within People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is likely to aggravate as party’s legislator from Srinagar Abid Hussain blamed PDP’s senior minister and government spokesperson Naem Akhtar for chaos in the party.
The legislator from Zadibal constituency in Srinagar—also uncle of Imran Raza Ansari, who resigned as cabinet minister-- accused Akhtar of being on a mission to ruin PDP. The storm within PDP, Hussain said, also puts a question mark on party’s prospects in upcoming parliamentary polls, municipal and Panchayat elections.
Last week, reinduction of Altaf Bukhari in the cabinet and reshuffle of portfolios exposed the fragility within PDP, when two senior cabinet ministers Basharat Bukhari, who held the portfolio of Revenue, Rehabilitation and Relief and was now assigned Horticulture and Imran Raza Ansari, Sports and Science and Technology Minister resigned. Supporters of another PDP legislator Abdul Majid Padder were protesting demanding cabinet berth for their constituency’s representative.
Basharat had a detailed meeting with CM Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday and a three-member party delegation also met both Basharat and Ansari on Saturday but Srinagar: After the resignation of two senior ministers, crisis within People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is likely to aggravate as party’s legislator from Srinagar Abid Hussain blamed PDP’s senior minister and government spokesperson Naem Akhtar for chaos in the party.

“First we have to understand, why are people resigning. Why has it come to this? If PDP as a family is destroyed, the reason would be Akhtar,” Hussain told ET.
Akhtar is a member of legislative council, who has not fought the elections and has now been assigned the portfolio of public works. “I have understood that Naem sahib doesn’t work for the interest of party but is hell bent at the behest of some agency to destroy PDP to the core,” accused Hussain, who also challenged Akhtar to fight against him. “I will leave my assembly seat and leave Kashmir, if Akhtar manages to get 200 votes against me,” said Hussain.
