SBI, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, shares soar in volume

NEW DELHI: Shares of SBI, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Vedanta continued to hog the limelight on Thursday.

On the National Stock Exchange, around 1.54 crore shares of State Bank of India (SBI) exchanged their hands so far till 1.15 pm (IST). ICICI Bank (number of shares traded: 1.19 crore) , NHPC (0.91 crore) , DLF (0.87 crore) , Tata Motors (0.82 crore) , Vedanta Ltd (0.76 crore) , SAIL (0.74 crore) , ITC (0.65 crore) , Bank of Baroda (0.62 crore) and PNB (0.62 crore) stood among other most traded securities on the exchange in Thursday ’s session.

The NSE Nifty index was trading 28.25 points up at 8752.95 around 1.20 pm (IST), while BSE Sensex was trading 87.3 points up at 28242.86 on February 16.

In the Nifty index, Infosys (up 2.89 per cent) , Sun Pharma (up 2.85 per cent) , Maruti Suzuki (up 1.93 per cent) , GAIL (up 1.79 per cent) , Bank of Baroda (up 1.56 per cent) , Tata Motors (up 1.49 per cent) , TCS (up 1.48 per cent) , Tech Mahindra (up 1.47 per cent) , Eicher Motors (up 1.40 per cent) and Grasim Inds. (up 1.24 per cent) were among top gainers, while Bharti Infratel (down -1.82 per cent) , ITC (down -1.74 per cent) , Adani Ports SEZ (down -1.22 per cent) , Zee Ent. (down -1.20 per cent) , BPCL (down -1.19 per cent) , ICICI Bank (down -0.98 per cent) , Asian Paints (down -0.94 per cent) , Larsen & Toubro (down -0.93 per cent) , Bosch (down -0.82 per cent) , Coal India Ltd (down -0.77 per cent) were trading in red.
