Porsche optimistic of growing India volumes in 2017

NEW DELHI: After a lacklustre 2016, Porsche, a leading sports car maker and a part of the Volkswagen Group, is cautiously optimistic of growing sales in the current calendar year.

The company said its sales last year remained largely flat at 401 units due to various uncertainties in the Indian market. Deesch Papke, CEO (Middle East, Africa), Porsche informed, “In 2016, while the segment declined by 6%, our sales remained mostly flat at 401 units. We are cautiously optimistic of growing volumes in 2017.”

Papke added despite recent uncertainties India is a key market and the company is confident of the mid to long-term potential for the luxury segment here. “India is an extremely important market for us and we are committed to growing our dealer network and sales here. The luxury segment in the country will strengthen going ahead”, said Papke.

Porsche today launched the 718 Cayman and the 718 Boxster priced at Rs 81.63 lakh and Rs 85.53 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively. With more launches lined up in 2017, Porsche is aiming at increasing volumes over 2015.
