The world may be celebrating the Valentine’s Day, but India celebrated in a different way since morning – and that too publicly on a social networking site – Twitter.
Wait! I am not talking about a couple here expressing their love to each other, but corporates expressing their love-hate relationship on the micro blogging site and it is none other than Reliance Jio, the latest entrant to the telecom industry wishing ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ to its three competitors Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.
“Dear @airtelindia, @VodafoneIN, @ideacellular, Happy Valentine’s Day. #WithLoveFromJio”, the Mukesh Ambani owned company tweeted in the morning.
Well Idea Cellular was quick to reciprocate to the wishes saying “@reliancejio Same to you! Nice to know that love is in the air today. @airtelindia @vodafoneIN,” but Airtel did not leave its witty sense of reciprocating it.
“Same feels @reliancejio! After all #HarEkFriendZarooriHotaHai @VodafoneIN @ideacellular,” the Sunil Bharti Mittal owned company responded with its tagline and with a devil’s smile to add to that.
According to market analysts, such things are new to the corporate world as such social networking sites are becoming a tool to express one’s feeling, even though it is in a sarcastic way.
Short but sweet could also be a way to express their feelings on the social networking sites.
For instance, Coca-Cola and Pepsico who are archrivals for several years forgot their competition on expressing a gratitude in February 2015.
It was when PepsiCo took out a half-page advertisement in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution paying respects to death of former Coca-Cola President Donald R Keough.
And in return Coca-Cola thanked PepsiCo in a tweet saying, “Thanks, @PepsiCo, for your gracious tribute to Don Keough in our hometown paper. His legendary leadership made us all better.”
