Sharp drop in retail food prices
New Delhi, February 13:
Retail inflation eases to 3.17 per cent in January with a sharp drop in consumer food prices.
Data released on Monday revealed that consumer food price inflation eased to 0.53 per cent in January 2017 as against 6.85 per cent a year ago. Retail food price inflation in urban areas contracted by 0.53 per cent.
CPI inflation was at 3.41 per cent in December 2016 and at 5.69 per cent in January 2016.
