The Kolkata-headquartered CESC Ltd is awarded the electricity distribution franchise for Bikaner in Rajasthan through competitive bidding, according to a release issued by the company. CESC supplies power in Rajasthan towns of Bharatpur and Kota. Rajasthan is awarding the distribution franchise to reduce losses arising out of high AT&C (aggregate technical and commercial) loss and improve financial health of the discoms. As in 2013-14, the three State distribution utilities in Rajasthan reported AT&C losses to the tune of 24 to 31 per cent.
