Church Street to be closed for 6 months
BENGALURU: Church Street will be closed from Friday for redevelopment under the tenderSURE scheme. Authorities indicated that it would reopen for traffic after six months.
"The BBMP has informed us that Church Street will have to be completely closed for the next six months. Pedestrian movement, however, will not be affected," DCP Traffic (East) Abhishek Goyal said. “There's no need for alternative traffic arrangements because there are other ways to get to the roads that Church Street leads to.“ The civic body will start shifting utilities to either side of the road. The 650-metre stretch will be developed based on designs made by architect Naresh V Narasimhan. Once that is done, Church Street will be given a concrete white top ping. "Shifting of utilities as per TenderSURE guidelines will take 2-3 months. Whitetopping will be taken up after," an official said.
