Patanjali wants more land from BJP led government in Assam for food park
GUWAHATI: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev led firm, Patanjali is seeking more land from the BJP led Assam government. The Haridwar-based firm has already been given 150 acres for an Herbal and Mega Food Park in Balipara in Assam.
Ramdev had discussion with Assam Industry minister, Chandra Mohan Patwary, and sought another 33 acres of land in Balipara in Assam.
"Patanjali wants more land as they want to set up some more units," a senior official in Industry Department of the state government told ET.
The Rs 1,200-crore park will have manufacturing facility of 10 lakh metric tones (MT) per year. This investment is billed as first mega private sector investment for BJP led government.
Foundation stone of Assam facility was laid by chief minister, Sarbananda Sonowal on November last year. The unit will manufacture wide range of products ranging from cosmetics, nutrition and kitchen essentials.
Assam unit is expected to be fully operational by March this year.
